Helmsley in Bloom 

• We were honoured to represent Yorkshire in the National Britain in Bloom Competition in 2007 (Large Village Category) and were delighted to be awarded a Silver Gilt medal.
• Entering the regional Yorkshire in Bloom competition in 2008 and 2009 the Helmsley in Bloom Group were awarded Gold medals on both occasions – a testament to the hard work and many hours given by our band of volunteers working in partnership with other organisations.
• The Yorkshire in Bloom Judges will be visiting Helmsley in late March/early April 2010 to make their spring assessment and will be looking at how we tackle a range of topics including Horticultural Excellence, Environmental Responsibility and how the entire community works together.
• Can you help Helmsley in Bloom?
• If you are able to give as little as an hour a week the volunteers would love to hear from you. You don’t have to have green fingers, just bags of enthusiasm and a sense of humour! If you have a particular talent, the Helmsley in Bloom Group would welcome your help. Please call David Westhead, our chairman, for an informal chat.

All of our achievements to date could not have been done without the support of the growing band of supporters and ‘hands on’ volunteers, local businesses, Ryedale District Council, North Yorkshire County Council, the Ryedale Housing Association and last but by no means least, the enthusiastic encouragement of our Town Council.
