Grass cutting - problem with new contractor

Grass cutting - problem with new contractor

Unfortunately there has been a problem with the new contractor and his understanding of the contract and the maps. This has taken some weeks to resolve and led to some areas not being cut until late May, and some are still not cut. Those that were cut late have been left long, 'tufted' and in places there's grass on the pavement. Where the maps have been correctly understood there does not seem to be a problem with standards but we will be checking. On the agenda for the council meeting on the 21st June, venue to be arranged. Please note that the council does not cut all the areas of grass in Helmsley but looks after its own grass, the churchyard and much of NYCC's verges. The council receives £620pa for cutting 'visibility splays' at certain junctions from NYCC Area 4 Highways, otherwise it is not paid for grass cutting.
