VAS on B1257 Stokesley Road

B1257 Stokesley Road

In 2021 two Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) were put up in Helmsley, on the A170 Linkfoot Lane and the B1257 Stokesley Road. Both VAS will operate in either direction.

They were paid for by Helmsley Town Council with the help of grants of £3,000 from the Police Commissioners AJ1 fund and £2,500 from County Councillor Val Arnold's Locality Budget. The working group that recommended to the Council the type (solar, battery, size etc) and, with the help and guidance of NYCC Highways, location, had three members, Councillors Arnold and Porter and a member of the public, Mr Chris Parkin.

The VAS were operational from the 1st April 2021. The first data sets were downloaded on the 10th June 2021.

The data downloads as DAT files and if anyone would like them please contact the clerk. There is a free programme for pcs which may be downloaded and run at your own risk, Houston Radar Stats Analyser Pro. Once the DAT file is imported and a project created in this programme, the data is easier to look at and manipulate than the reports below at the moment. Providing better reports will be a work in progress and the clerk is in touch with other clerks who are trying to improve data presentation.

In the meantime data will be provided as a pdf report and as a raw export to Excel.
